2011 chevrolet equinox review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Recently redesigned, with more refinement. introductionthe chevrolet equinox was redesigned for 2010, and the second-generation model has been a resounding success. Some people believe the second year of production is the sweet spot because they've ironed out all the bugs but it's still new. the equinox has pricing and features of a compact suv, but it's a little larger, and closer in size to a midsize suv. And the equinox comes with luxury and technology amenities not expected in its price class. A front-wheel-drive equinox gets an epa-estimated 22/32 mpg city/highway. So we recommend the standard 2. 4-liter engine. It is more carlike than the pre-2010 models, with less lean in turns. It's not sporty, but it's on par with its main competitors, including the honda cr-v and toyota rav4. We found that the equinox absorbs even sharp bumps without disrupting passenger comfort with either the standard 17-inch or available 18-inch wheels. inside, the equinox has an attractively designed interior. There are some nice amenities, including ice blue ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hard-drive audio system, a dual-screen rear dvd entertainment system, and a power rear liftgate. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and they have 10 inches of travel, so drivers of all sizes will fit. New for 2011 are bluetooth connectivity, a usb port and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. All-wheel drive enhances stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe chevrolet equinox is priced and equipped to compete with compact suvs but it's larger than compact, smaller than midsize. Equinox uses the same theta architecture that underpins the gmc terrain. Theta has been updated since the first-generation equinox, and that's a good thing because the old model didn't handle very well. up front, equinox features chevrolet's signature two-tier grille with gold bowtie insignia. The headlights wrap around the front fenders. Air ducts sit below the headlights and house fog lights in chromed bezels that bisect the openings. The lower front fascia is charcoal-colored plastic and it has an air dam in the center. The ltz model and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package add metallic trim pieces to the lower portion of the air dam opening. The hood has three character lines. The hood is shorter than that of pre-2010 models because chevrolet moved the base of the windshield forward three inches, creating a more slippery shape. The equinox has a 0. 36 coefficient of drag. around the sides, the equinox has pronounced fender flares and a wheels-at-the-corners stance, especially up front. The roof features wraparound side glass at the rear and tinted rear and rear side windows. All but the equinox ls model has luggage side rails; they're charcoal on equinox lt models and they add chrome inserts on the equinox ltz and the equinox 2lt with the chrome appearance package. That package also adds chrome door handles and side mirrors. Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels are standard and 18- and 19-inch wheels are available. at the rear, the equinox has dual round taillights, a takeoff of the malibu design, and a roof spoiler. The tailgate opens upward, and a class-exclusive power, programmable tailgate is offered. Owners can program the tailgate to open to different heights so shorter drivers can reach it. Overall, the look is attractive. The ltz's additional chrome trim adds a touch of class, especially with the chromed 19-inch wheels. interiorchevrolet says the equinox interior was inspired by the interior of the successful malibu midsize sedan. While that may be true when it comes to aesthetics, it's not true in terms of execution. Instead, like the toyota rav4 and honda cr-v that chevrolet benchmarked when developing this vehicle, the equinox has hard plastic on the entirety of the dashboard, as well as on the center console and door panels. The ice blue ambient lighting is a delightful feature. Equinox ls models have it on the center stack surround and in the center console cupholders. Equinox lt models add it on the instrument panel and center console, and the equinox ltz gets it in the door handle recesses, in the footwells and in the door map pockets. The speedometer and tachometer feature white numbers and black backgrounds. They are set in large pods and in between are water temperature and fuel gauges, as well as a digital trip computer readout. The base interior has a storage cubby at the top of the center stack. When the navigation system is ordered, it sits in this spot. The controls on the center stack are grouped in a tight bunch, with the radio buttons up top and the climate controls at the bottom. With the navigation system, there are 43 buttons, dials and knobs. It's a bit less confusing without the navigation system, but it's going to take some getting used to. All of the controls are easy to reach, and the area is trimmed in a good-looking clear-coated silver-painted plastic. space is not a problem in the equinox. Cloth or leather, the front seats are comfortable and supportive. Gm obviously spent some money here. They are especially attractive in leather, with their two-tone coloring and contrast stitching. The front seats have 10 inches of travel and the steering wheel tilts and telescopes, so everyone from the very short to the very tall will be co.

2011 chevrolet camaro review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New convertible joins newly redesigned lineup. introductiona new camaro convertible joins the 2011 chevrolet camaro lineup. The camaro convertible is equipped like the coupes, and it's available with either the smooth 3. 6-liter v6 or in 6. 2-liter v8 ss trim. the reborn camaro begins its second year with the 2011 model, and it's turning more heads than ever because the striking styling is starting to sink in as more new camaros hit the road. Ten exterior colors are available, including a corvette yellow that guarantees the car will gather many thumbs-up. For 2011, a color called synergy green metallic is added. camaro ls and lt models use the cadillac 3. 6-liter v6 with a 6-speed manual transmission standard and 6-speed automatic (with semi-manual shifting) optional. The v6 revs to 7000 rpm and sounds sweet along the way. The horsepower rating for 2011 camaro ls and 2011 camaro lt models has been upgraded to 312 horsepower. It was 304 hp on 2010 models, but it's the rating that changed, not the output. Additional testing found the camaro's intake system to be more efficient than the cadillac's, on which apparently the previous power estimate was based. a steeply raked windshield helps produce a low coefficient of drag for good aerodynamics that contribute to the impressive v6 government fuel economy rating of 29 mpg highway. However, the 2011 camaro is nipped at the checkered flag by the 2011 mustang v6 that makes 305 hp and reaches 31 mpg highway. we found the handling, ride and brakes to be excellent in both the camaro lt and the camaro ss with the big v8, although the ss suspension is stiffer and its 20-inch tires are firmer. The chassis structure is rigid, helping make the turn-in precise for a car this size; the grip is secure, and the damping is solid and supple. We never encountered a harsh moment with the ride, in either car, during a full day of hard driving east of san diego in both of them, and later a full week in the pacific northwest with the 6-speed camaro ss. as for the brakes, the camaro lt stops superbly. But the 6-speed manual transmission with the v6 is the most all-around usable sporty combination (the v6 because 426 horsepower is overkill on the street). The gearbox is solid but not slick, and the throws are shorter than some. The 6-speed shifts nicely, including easily down into first gear for hairpin turns. inside, the cabin is quiet, so quiet that 80 mph feels more like 70. Interior materials are good, but the instrumentation is disappointing, with gm apparently still trying to be clever rather than clean with gauges. The bucket seats are comfortable, with decent bolstering. The standard cloth upholstery is good, with excellent leather available in black, gray, beige and two-tone inferno orange. the windows are small (doorsills high for safety) and the a-pillars wide, so it makes the cockpit feel a bit cave-like. Visibility through the windshield is compromised by the long hood and raked windshield, although careful location of the driver's seat helps. Rear visibility over the driver's shoulder isn't very good, but then it's impossible to make it good with a roofline this sporty. We were disappointed by the civility of the exhaust note. The ss uses firmer shocks, springs and anti-roll bars than the v6 models, but the ride doesn't suffer for it. We found the handling balance of the camaro ss excellent. the convertible is equipped like the coupes but features a soft top fitted with acoustical foam in the headliner to minimize noise with the top up. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic with manual shifting is optional. Nine production exterior colors are available, with tops offered in black or tan. Rear parking assist is standard on all convertible models. option packages 2lt 3,845) and 2ss 3,980) include heated mirrors and seats, nine-speaker 245-watt audio system, bluetooth and usb port, leather shift knob and steering wheel with audio controls, remote starting, and console mounted gauges including oil temp and pressure, volts and transmission fluid temp. The tires fit the same in the wheelwells of all models, whether with 18-, 19-, 20- or 21-inch wheels, because they all have the same outside diameter. The smaller the wheel, the taller the sidewall of the tire. when viewed from the rear, the lines suggest the classic 1963 fastback split-window corvette; and when viewed head-on, classic 1969 camaro headlights appear. He said it took 113 tries to get the one-piece sheetmetal right, from the doors and pinched beltline rearward. There's no faulting gm for indifferent craftsmanship with this car, that's for sure. the rigid b-pillar is blacked-out, thus creating a clean outline for the side glass, blending into a handsome hardtop r.
